IDEAL’s Monthly Leadership Exchange Series

One hour. Real conflicts. Collective problem solving.

The IDEAL Leadership Exchange is a monthly peer roundtable for healthcare leaders working through the problems that don't show up on a strategy deck: staffing gaps nobody's fixed, technology nobody's adopted, growth decisions nobody wants to make alone.

Every session is built around one thing: leaders bringing their sharpest current challenge to people who understand exactly what they're up against, because they're living it too. A small group of leaders and guest panelists work through it together, out loud, for an hour.

How it works:

Each Exchange runs 60 minutes, consisting of 3-5 panelists:

  • Welcome and ground rules (5 min). A fast reset on how the room works before diving in.

    Working the questions (40 min). The group works through this session's questions, the ones the audience flagged at the last Exchange. The full panel has already reviewed them, so you're getting considered, prepared advice, not first reactions.

    Key takeaways and a commitment (10 min). Every leader leaves with one action they're taking before the next session.

    Setting the next agenda (5 min). Before we close, the room names what it wants covered next time. Those become the questions for the following Exchange.

Who's in the room

Every session pairs 2-3 IDEAL board members with a rotating panel of outside guests, capped at 4-5 panelists so it stays a real conversation. Guests bring perspective IDEAL's own network doesn't have; board members keep the conversation grounded in what IDEAL members are actually facing.

How we set the agenda

Every session closes by asking the room what it wants covered next, and the panel reviews those questions before the following Exchange, so the group arrives with real, prepared perspective instead of improvising on the spot.

Recent and upcoming sessions have drawn on questions like:

  • Pursuing new markets, payers, or service lines before the infrastructure is ready: knowing when to push and when to hold

  • Technology that's been bought or built but hasn't changed how anyone actually works

  • AI moving faster than governance: where experimentation should be encouraged, and where compliance or clinical risk demands guardrails

  • What happens when your best people become the bottleneck, and how to move institutional knowledge without burning them out

  • How leaders are actually using AI and automation day to day

  • How corporate healthcare organizations build intrapreneurship into their workforce
