Our story.

IDEAL was born out of a moment of clarity.

In 2022, a group of executive women attended a major healthcare conference and noticed something impossible to ignore: the speaker lineup was overwhelmingly homogenous. Few women. Even fewer people of color. It wasn’t just an oversight—it was a symptom of a bigger issue.

While representation on stage has improved since then, the challenge remains: diverse leaders are still underrepresented in executive roles across healthcare. IDEAL: Inspiring Development, Empowerment, and Leadership was founded to change that.

What began as a movement quickly became a professional organization dedicated to developing leaders, amplifying diverse voices, and creating real opportunities for advancement.

Through mentorship, intentional networking, in-person events, and industry advocacy, IDEAL works to ensure that leadership positions go to the best candidates, and that the pool of “best candidates” includes talented, diverse leaders ready to step forward.
